Park Serve Day

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) invites you to attend DCR’s Annual Park Serve Day, Saturday April 29, 2017 at parks across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

With the help of volunteers, DCR will spruce up park facilities, clean coastlines, clean and maintain trails, plant flowers, and more!

Spectacle Island volunteers will work on park cleanup, raking and pruning, trail maintenance, flower bed weeding and planting.

Meet at Boston Harbor Islands Ferry Center at Long Wharf North (north side of the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel ) at 8:30 AM to allow time for boarding. 9:00 a.m departure. Meeting point is accessable by MBTA: Blue Line Aquarium Stop and Orange Line State Street Stop.

Activities are suitable all ages. Wear appropriate shoes and dress for the weather. Bring a hat, sunscreen and extra drinking water to stay well hydrated.  Please contact the event coordinator Denise Sarno-Bucca at 617-828-1621 if you will require accessibility accommodations.

The New England Aquarium, MA Department of Conservation and Recreation, and the National Park Service  are partnering to clean-up the coast line of Grape Island! Join Stewardship Saturday staff and colleagues as we harvest all the junk from the beach that harms coastal and inter-tidal habitats.

Junior Ranger Day

Do you like learning about special places and sharing them with your friends and family?  Become a Boston Harbor Islands Junior Ranger!  Hike scenic trails with a Park Ranger, play games with friends, learn about plants and animals and uncover Spectacle Island’s fascinating history.  Learn how to explore and protect the Boston Harbor Islands and earn an official Junior Ranger Badge.

Island Activities are designed for kids ages 5-12.  Remember to pack lunch and water, and dress in layers for a great day outdoors!  $10 for adults / $5 for kids.  Advance reservations are strongly recommended.
